Pulsar repair

Post04 Feb 2007, 19:33

does anyone know of a compedent repair service for an old LED Pulsar?

I have a steel Date Command and I would very much like to get it repaired ..... I've had the module replaced at least twice but the last 'person' to work on it also lost one of the links to the bracelet

is there any chance that someone out there can repair my old friend?

There are a couple of people, try either retroleds - the forum admin here as he might be able to help and is 100% honest and possibly ledland -

best of luck. Do let us know the results as we appreciate any feedback on this sort of thing.

PM me with the symptoms; I may be able to help. I'm just amazed you've replaced the module TWICE and are still having problems. The P3 module is probably one of the more reliable modules Time Computer ever produced...

Ah parscent!
They still exist...
It's a long story but I think you'd better avoid .
if your Pulsar is fixable send it either to Bruce Wegmann or retroleds.com

Richard has replied (with title "Parscent"):

I would advise staying away from Parscent, I've heard lots of horror stories about them over the years, including them robbing parts from peoples watches, the guys at the DWF forum will sort you out.

so where do I send it for repair?

and what are the horrors?

A lot of DWF members know how to repair Pulsar watches but it also depends on the symptoms as only a few of us have professional equipment (for example wire-bonders) and years of experience.
Share the symptoms with us and we will be able to help you.
My website describes a few common symptoms that might help you to describe the problem easier:

symptoms

all I can tell you is that it was working just fine until a local guy claimed he could change the batteries ..... the same shop had done it before .... this time a new guy got his hands on it and it has been dark and missing a link on the bracelet

not much help huh?

that's odd, how can a link go missing just like that on a P3 model?
claim your money back as that link is worth minimum 15$

as for the watch, your "expert" might have killed the module with his own hands by not following basic rules for handling vintage electronics (grounding himself) and by applying static electricity to the module (electric shock in other words).
not much hope if that's the case.
