Vintage Pulsar question

Post16 May 2008, 16:25

I have a Pulsar LED gold coloured mens watch, model no 311435? It was purchased by my father in the early seventies. The buttons are on either side of the display. I cant remove the back from the watch. Do I need to take it to a jewellers to change the battery? Also, I would be grateful for any information about this watch. Many thanks.

appears to be a Pulsar P3 LED.
you'll find information easily at www.ledwatches.net - plenty of pictures there.
some oil or wd40 on the threads of the caseback ring for a few hours might help in unscrewing it. otherwise a jeweler should help however the proper battery size is no longer made. 357 batteries will fit with some spacers cut from a rubber pipe or an o-ring. of course if your watch was left with batteries in you might end up with a dead watch corroded by battery acid.
good luck.

If you are uncertain as to which Pulsar model you have, you will find an exhaustive source of information of all of the Pulsar LED models, by description, model number, and photograph, at www.oldpulsars.com

It does require a special wrench to open the back. It is very easy to scratch the back of a Pulsar trying to open it without the correct tool.
