Space Imitation Pulsar

Post30 Oct 2008, 21:10

I am currently looking at Pulsar's and have just spotted the reproduction space LED watch on Ebay, The LED Watch Store.

Does anyone out there own one?
Is the time/date display any different to the original Pulsar?
Any other comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have one, and there are 2 types of modules used in them. One looks is a modern LED look, and the second tries to emulate the old "wire bonded" displays. I have both, and in all honesty the LEDs in the wire bonded are not nearly as bright as the vintage watches.

They also use magnifiers so you can't read the time from a steep angle. The digits are also spaced further apart, and there is no seconds readout. The case/bracelet is probably as close to the original as possible, but it has more of a polish to it, not brushed.

It's a fairly inexpensive daily wear for me, but I prefer the vintage Pulsars/Hamiltons etc.

Thanks for that. Does anyone have photos of wire bonded and the modern display that Space do, so I can decide which one to get.

Hi Melrose,

Well, I took some pics today and they're kinda crappy, but I'll put them up anyways. Sorry, I don't have a camera with a Macro function.

the display looks not too bad. and as a very similar style is a cheap way to wear your expensive pulsar.

Really?! Did he say that? I have one from him already - but this is a bit of a surprise. It seems he had a bottomless supply... what happened? Did his time machine break down? ;-)

I'll see if I can get better pics. They actually don't do the Pulsar any justice. The wire bonded LEDs in the Space watch are about 50% less bright, and the modern ones aren't that bad. For some reason the camera makes it look the same.

Wow - time is running out. No pun intended.
