Pulsar Executive problem...again!

Post10 Jan 2006, 23:43

Hi,
got a Executive that wont go off...it just keeps ticking on the hours, like its in setting mode.

Doesnt matter if its inside or outside the case....could it be the reed switch that is faulty?

I am assuming this is a magnet-set watch [in an auto-setter this symptom suggests a fault in the clock chip itself, which would be unrepairable]. Rather than removing the time demand switch, I would cut one lead [effectively removing the switch from the circuit]. If the watch begins operating properly [you can simulate the operation of the switch by shorting across the leads with a pair of tweezers], just cut the other lead and replace the switch. If the problem persists, the switch is clearly not the source, and we are probably back to a chip fault, and a scrap module. I have a Ladies Cushion with the same problem, unfortunately not fixable, but it shows the problem is not limited to any particular model.

Fixed :D
some bending,a clean-up and the magic hairdryer did the trick.

Anyone have a bracelet and a "screwring" for the backplate in the drawer?

Just curious as to what exactly you bent and/or cleaned. I am aware that heating a module sometimes reverses circuit faults [often only temporarily, I'm afraid], but this sounds a bit different. Precisely what did you do here? Enlighten us, please...
