Module 401

Post27 Feb 2006, 03:46

I'm assuming that a P4 module is marked Module 401, correct?

Three different modules went into the Executive model. They were 401 = Magnetic set 402 = AutoSet and 406 = 24Hr format display. The 403 = AutoSet + DOW [day-of-week]. The 406 is by far the rarest of the four. No Executive was ever issued with a factory-installed 403 module; because of the shape of the crystal, the DOW display would be partially obscured at the bottom.

Bruce, from the way you write that, was it accepted practice to repair executive's with altered 403 modules? I've just bought a P4 with exactly this situation. The DOW section has been disabled. Personally as my first venture into Pulsar's, it doesn't bother me, as the watch was pretty inexpensive, and I bought it for regular use, but I am curious to know if this is a common situation. Thanks in advance for your help.

PS I think i'm a Pulsar convert now. The watch (style and function) is pure class. Even if mine is a bit of a mongrel :)

How exactly was yours "disabled"? I've seen circuit traces cut, the DOW display taped over, and in one case, it was physically removed from the circuit board. I can't imagine this would ever have been done at a Service Center, and is almost certainly someone's [later] attempt to keep a good watch chugging along.

Sorry for the delay Bruce, but here's a pic. Clearly it's taken through the crystal, as I don't have the back removing tool (I know that sounds like i'm practicing my dodgy ebay seller speak, but it's actually true). It appears to my untrained eye that the day of week display has actually been removed, but I cant say.
