heat !

Post03 Jul 2006, 13:07

Hi everybody,

Is it possible that pulsar doesn't like heat ?
When I wear my watch (P2ss), under the hot summer sun and on my sweat wrist ... sometime the watch stop displaying time and start again few minutes later ... or when I put it in a cold place for a while.

Could it be a problem of "O" ring that I've never changed inside the watch ?
Do I have to change it ? (Where can I find a "O" ring etc.)

Thanks for your suggestioons

Sounds more likely that you have a problem with one of the solder joints from when you replaced the reed switch. Check that they're actually soldered together and not just "touching".

It's always a good idea to replace an O ring if they've gone hard or rotted away. Whenever I need an O ring I take the watch to my local watchmaker - they can usually find something that fits and they cost next to nothing.

Maybe it's a quartz crystal problem. I had the same behaviour with 2 vintage LED watches (non-Pulsar). They stopped running (or ran very fast) at higher temperatures (e.g. on the wrist).

Hueur

I am afraid the crystal driver circuit in your P-2 is failing ! I have had a few of mine do this and in time the circuit will fail all together ! When this happens, you will have a stationary digit and thats it ! Unfortunately, its a common characteristic with Pulsar modules and heat seems to affect them the most... HOWEVER, it can be fixed ! If you send it to this chap (Steve) he will put a crystal oscillator in it for you and she'll be good as new ! Steve's email is : vcrdoc@powerweb.net

All the best !!

Thank you Simon,
But I don't have crystal anymore inside my watch (as you can see on the pics).
Do you mean that Steve could put an old fashion like crystal in my watch instead of the oscillator chip ?

Ah..... OK, well this IS a retro-fit oscillator .. If this is playing up, it simply needs replacing ! You can do it yourself if you are handy with a solder iron or send it to Steve... The little square object is a combined Oscillator/driver and was replaced originally due to the modules own driver circuit failing ! You need a new one of these !

I recently changed a reed switch so why not a oscillator ?
(after I could changed ... my watch!)
Can you tell me the exact name and feature of the oscillator I need : Khz, size etc. ? (Because for me, "oscillator" could be the name of a punk-metal band !)
So I could buy one.

Thank you very much

What?!! A working module with no crystal? How? What? Why? Where?
