As we near the digital watch's 40th birthday, I thought it would be interesting to see if there's a consensus on the actual date that the digital watch came into being. I propose three possible dates, (one of which would make today the digital watch's 40th birthday):
1) April 4th, 1970
This is the day that the digital watch was "announced" by Hamilton.

2) May 6, 1970
This is the date of the Hamilton press conference where the digital watch was first unveiled to the public.

3) April 4th, 1972
This is the date that the Pulsar P1 was released.

So, what date do you think has the most merit as the "birthday" of the digital watch?
