Correct Number of Links for a Hamilton QED

Post21 Aug 2013, 03:23

Does any one know how many links the one and two button Hamilton QED's came from the factory with?

15, to accommodate an eight-inch wrist (same for the Pulsar P3 models).

I never could, either. But, I have run into a number of minty Hamiltons over the years, and the most they ever had was 15 links in the bracelet, and that does fit an 8" wrist, the largest most watch manufacturers make provision for.

That makes sense. I think that's the way we find out about half the stuff we know about LED's - thanks.

I have a one button stainless steel Hamilton with 13 links that fits my wrist, but is a little too snug for my liking - in fact over the months since I've been wearing it I've noticed that some of the connecting bits have become a little stretched - eg the gap between the watch and the first link is a tiny bit wider than it was.

I'm thinking of seeing a watch repairer to see if there's anything that could discreetly be 'inserted' between the clasp and the first (smallest) link - just to give it a couple of extra millimetres - anyone know have such a thing?

Or would it better to try to get hold of a spare small link? And how the heck do you remove/replace these Hamilton links anyway?!

Cheers

Ged
