LEDs in Film: Slap Shot

Post23 Feb 2014, 08:14

Hi.

Tonight, I watched an old film from 1977 called Slap Shot starring Paul Newman. I was a bit distracted by the fact that throughout the film, he wears some type of chunky gold LED watch as shown below. Any guesses about the model? Note that Newman occasionally wears his watch outside of his shirt cuff, Gianni Agnelli style.

p.s. A noticed in another shot that a bystander character is clearly wearing a Hamilton QED:

It looks like a Frontier-moduled Hamilton in the first image (the one where he's wearing an orange velour shirt :mega: ).
Not sure if it's same watch in the second shot (the one where he's wearing the blue skivvy). It looks somewhat bigger.
Rgds.

Andrew I thought that as well but got put off by the second shot. I hadnt thought it could be a different watch.

Here's another screen shot from the recent movie about Steve Jobs.
A Pulsar P3 very likely in 18K gold worn by the first Apple angel-investor Mike Markulla played by Dermot Mulroney.
This event was in 1977 so the P3 was slightly outdated but Jobs is wearing an LCD with front buttons, very likely a Seiko in goldplate.
