Extraordinary rarity surfaces on eBay

Post26 Jun 2015, 00:25

This may have come and gone so quickly that almost everyone missed it...item number 291494099335. If we judge availability by simple frequency-of-appearance, this is the rarest Pulsar to appear in over a decade (I've been monitoring eBay on a daily basis for over 11 years, and this is the first of this model I have seen). Without anything else in the auction pics for scale, it's hard to tell if this is the men's or ladies version, but, based on the weight, I'm guessing this is the ladies model. Found in an estate (location unspecified), and not currently working (an irrelevant detail, in a case like this). At US$1895, this was a bargain-basement giveaway.

Nice find Bruce, you seem to have a knack for finding all the rare gems. How do you do it ? You will have to post some photo's when you have it up to Bruce standards. :Prost:

This is truly a rare watch. Here are some are some pictures of mine in the matching boxes. I have only ever seen one Men's version in nearly 20 years.

Based on the bracelet construction, I'm guessing these were "sized" to the buyers wrist, like the solid gold Dress models. The hidden clasp is ingenious, though it does allow for only a very limited range of adjustment. No setting magnet required, as all 800-series modules were Auto-Set.

Nice watch Lloyd, is this watch still in your collection ? Is the crystal a sapphire crystal ? I would like to see the mans version next to the ladies version so we could have a size comparison of the two.

Yes it has a Sapphire Crystal. I'm sure I have a picture of the Men's version somewhere on the hard drive. If I find it I'll post it up.
