Unfortunately, there's no way to pin that down with any certainty. We have no production records, so there's little to go on, other than bracelet date codes (which are questionable, at best) and serial numbers. Earliest bracelet code I've seen is 6-72 (two months after the release of the P1). Given the total production of about 135,000 units (with serial numbers starting at 10001, with highest number I've seen at 147xxx), I'd guess about 35-40 thousand were 1972 products. Of course, all this is subject to revision in the light of new information, should it become available. The Date/II is also, strictly speaking, a P2, but, as none were produced in 1972, aren't relevant in this context (10-15 thousand produced, judging by their relative frequency of appearance, compared to the "standard" P2).
