P1 #358 back on ebay ...

Post03 Dec 2015, 14:22

Looks like P1 #358 is back up for sale at a lofty $15,000 price tag, ebay # 391334065221

What is a bit odd is that it was previously sold on ebay in Nov 2014 for a final auction fee of $6,055, with the then seller also based in the same location as current seller..

But last time around it was shown with a genuine P1 box for 1/3rd the current asking price, and it now looks like its been given a rub down with coarse sandpaper ..

Interesting. Maybe Bruce can chime in and enlighten us with some juicy tidbits about what is up with this P1. I hear he may be a little under the weather right now. Maybe when he feels better he can fill us in. :-D

Looks like there's another P1 on ebay, item 262184792106.

What's very interesting about this one is that the serial number is #281, and I've not seen that before when doing P1 restorations, or any private sales I know of, or on ebay before, or mentioned by anyone on the specialist forums!

I used to own #280, so this one would have been nice to own making a sequential pair.

So unless someone else has come across it before, it looks like we have another survivor to add to the 45 (approx ..) known to still exist from the 400 originally made back in 72.

I'm trying to work out what's up with the crystal. It looks like the reflective layer underneath the Ruby crystal is damaged. In one picture it looks like it has peeled off. The top right hand part of the crystal looks chipped too. Also the module is totally re-worked. This P-1 would need allot of work to get it looking even reasonable.

I believe this is really a P.5 instead of a full blown P1. May be the closes P1 I will ever get close to owning. Got to start out with baby steps.

... and now, long time Pulsar bits seller "barbie9", has jumped in with a setting magnet for the Pulsar P1.

Yours for just $1,100 ebay item 221967996171.

All we need now is someone with an empty P1 box for $2,500 like a few years ago, a perfect early P1 owners manual showing the 6 digit P1 for $500, and maybe a pulsar embossed cleaning leather for good measure for $250. Etc etc.

Maybe its time for a pair of ultra rare stainless steel P1's to appear. Now that would be hens-teeth rare :grin1:

They were. But someone bought them, scratched the stainless steel coating off to reveal the solid 18k beneath, and then melted them down.

:-D
