Unusual gold plated P-4 Executive.

Post23 Dec 2015, 17:00

I finally got around to taking pictures of the gold plated P-4 Executive which came from Auction Zip back in the summer. It was in the same auction with the gold plated salesman P-1 and the other so called prototypes that where sold, but not really sold, and then appeared on eBay. Was I the only person to actually win two watches from that auction ?
I know it was reported as nothing unusual by Bruce so I thought id post pictures up for general evaluation.

Looking inside the case there are no drill holes to screw the module down.
The case is the Swiss SA design. I have seen this on SS models but not gold plated Executives.
The bracelet is attached by a bar and not spring pins.
Has anyone ever seen an Executive with this bracelet construction. We know it came on the Date Command. And has anyone had a gold plated executive with this SS case-back ?
Lastly look what was in the magnet compartment. A P-1 magnet. I lucked in !

Nice! 00008 serial number is cool :mega:

Are you sure the case is gold-plated and not solid gold Lloyd? It may just be the light, but the crystal looks sapphire to me as well.

I think you were the only person to buy anything from the auction Lloyd. All of the P1 original modules, the salesman's P1, the calculator, the patterned stainless P3 have all been offered up again for stupid prices on eBay.

Your one looks like a nice buy though! :pimp:

Nice find, especially the P1 magnet. Sort of like finding a real diamond ring in a box of Cracker Jacks. The case back looks like the kind that they installed on the Swiss made cases on the P4 Executive's just like in that photo on the Old Pulsar website. I guess it is "nothing unusual" only if you don't own one. I think it is pretty cool. :Prost:

The case is plated. It would of been a miracle if it was solid gold :-D The crystal is regular and not sapphire.

The case back ring has only two notches - is that unusual?

Well spotted Mick, I never
Noticed that.. Also the O Ring is gold plated. This is interesting as all the O-rings I've seen are SS. Off course excluding the solid gold O-Rings. I know Bruce said this watch is nothing unusual but has anyone ever seen another like
this ?

Lloyd, have you thought about dropping a module in it and making it functional to wear ? :-) I noticed the filler on the inside of that one magnet pusher looks different than the normal looking one. Wonder what's up with that ?

That is a very unusual collection of parts. And besides the obvious P1 magnet, the other parts are a mystery. I looked at Dennis's website and pics of both the 14kt and 18kt gold P4's have the gold lock ring but both have 4 notches, not two like yours. Very interesting. :Hi:

It came with a working module, so it's functional to wear. I took it out for pictures.
