Omega TC1 Crystal

Did Omega make crystals without the Omega lettering and logo? Do watches with a blank crystal bring less value?

I ordered a TC 2 crystal from omega. Removed the old, then epoxied the new one in. Took some lacquer thinner to clean up the excess epoxy and removed the Omega logo.

It was painted on, they would not replace it. It was not fired enamel like the originals.

Still looks good though!

Cheers.

The early Omega crystal for the cal 1600 had logo only, no wording. They never produced a completely blank crystal - I'm guessing someone at Omega decided the " logo only " wasnt distinctive enough and the wording was added, logo only phased out early in the models run . The logo only crystals are commonly seen on the uncommon leather models. The crystal (with wording and logo) was generic to the 1600, 1601, 1602 calibers The gold lettered versions are still readily available, the white unobtainable as far as i'm aware

Yes, the gold is still available, but DO NOT use a solvent to clean up any epoxy: it will remove the logo. My original white was so bad, major gouges, that I ordered a gold. This was about 13 years ago, price about (memory?) $120USd.

Geoff.
