Interesting "frankenstein" of a Sunwatch.

Saw this as I was trolling the 'net today, scroll down about a quarter of the way. Looks like they gutted the module and put in one of those cheap looking LEDs in. The original website is in Japanese, and Babel Fish was pretty much useless in translation. While not my cup of tea, you could probably do this with the DKNY 1367 module...

Interesting idea - but now it's a simple top-view watch :-(

Babelfish translation (too good to not post it ;-) ):

Last month, those which are purchased with eBay were the antique digital clock “SYNCHRONAR 2100” of America. The brine of the severe conditional ・・・60℃/you place on the 100 hours it exposes, slate and to the spray of the 24 hours you attach, seawater to squeegee pressure 355lbs/sq from height of 1foot/30.48 centimeter 100 hours 40 ℃ 100 hours it withstands 100 hours high-level 100000feet/30.48km suitable high ground atmospheric pressure the insulated warehouse in the air, of the hit 80℃ with 1000 hammers it was the praise complaint that, but the margin that mono is really it stops performance simply at life of the nicad electric battery which is built in either repair is not possible with consequence of fixed sash seal module. The thing and inside the silicon gel which I purchase deteriorated with the fluid leak of the electric battery and we melted also baseplate pattern and it was playback impossible. In order that just the wrapping is utilized helplessly, it was to transplant to build unit of the other clock. Truth is that those of the LED indicating element are good, but in expensive reason just back light from the rear made those of the red LED illumination to those of LCD. Because as for the function part of [shinkurona] magnet SW was used, you took also clock baseplate wiring of transplantation to that SW and turned and ON of the rear illumination with of magnet SW, tried to change OFF. The electric battery drive section of the clock unit which it transplants is to be the 1.55V electric battery, but as for the electric battery for LED illumination the difficult constitution which loads 2 button electric batteries at 3V voltage. When it places in the unit of [shinkurona] in reason, thickness did over somewhat. To be helpless it laminated three aluminum plates of 2mm and 1mm and it did again to supply unit by the fact that the reverse side cover is recreated. If truth is said, until the baseplate which rots is done practically, the part purchasing to the solar array for selection and charge of the nickel hydrogen button electric battery of substitution, repair preparation can do and it is regrettable. Well, because, the latest remodelling item red LED for the rear illumination spacing transparent unit, shines doubtfully in four directions, with it has done even if as a hen lever gimmick. You are not with you think, but as for the one which [shinkurona] of the junk is purchased way (never) playback repair is not never expected. Those to go round to complete ones probably are rare thing to the baseplate and the indicatory department. If why, inside is mounted IC tip/chip of the heart being the silicon basis bare, the gold wire which is thinner than the hair is wired and does to the cartridge. The silicon gel fills up directly there and the eye that glaringly the nicad electric battery is enshrined on that, those which are to be layout of the thing. If the electric battery leak the fluid, it is the size where these delicately wiring directly under corrode keep being disconnected at a stroke and. Regrettable!
