Charging Day

Post17 Oct 2010, 03:31

Hi All.
I like to recharge my Synchronars every now and then. I layed them out on the back lawn and thought they looked so good I'd take a photo. So, here they are:

Nice patch of Synchs. I wish a little patch of Synchs would sprout up in my yard. What are you using for fertilizer?

Thanks guys.
Yes Jeff, they're all covered. Left to right there's:

SS MkIV
Black ceramic MkI
SS MkIV
Gold-plated MkIII (Synch module in Sunwatch case)
SS MkI (the only one I regularly wear)
Flat cornered MkIII Sunwatch (flat-top module)
At the back are a MkII module and a MkI module.

I've run out of cases for the modules. I've got a flat-cornered Synch case to put the MkII into, but it seems to have been mis-cast or mis-milled. I just can't get anything to sit right in it.

Abe, I find that blood sweat and tears is an excellent way to get them to sprout (literally !). I've spent far too many hours tinkering with these things, but I've learned a lot and enjoyed every minute.

Rgds,
Andrew.

neat collection andrew. on the flat corner top. i have one that did not fit anything well either. i used a diamond tip burr in a flexshaft grinder and ground out the inside area that didn't have enough clearance. i believe that howard told me the flat corner tops weren't used on the mkI/II's and that is why they don't fit well. i have mine on a mkII red top. it is snug, but it fits nicely. just thought i would mention that so you may want to see just how much it is off. peter

Hi Peter.
I think you're right. The flat corner cases only seem to have been used with the MkIIIs.
I've tried grinding a damaged lexan top in an attempt to identify where it's not fitting properly. No luck yet. Once I've identified the problem area, I'll try your method to adjust the case.
