egomon: probably because you don't have any sun in Finland right now.  . actually, jeff and i have discussed this phenomena and not come to a real concete conclusion as to what exactly is the problem. it is obviously something not right in the charging system because as a rule it is not a problem. this is more than likely why these particular watches were returned to riehl to begin with. i have a few that have this problem, but for the time being just set them aside. they work fine if they don't get an excessive charge. i think jeff said that the qc shuts down because the voltage is too high. [at least i think that is what he said.] i have tried changing the qc's, but it doesn't seem to help. maybe it has something to do with the 2 resistors in the charging circuit. what do you think jeff? i was going to call you on that but never got around to it. maybe now is the time to address that. peter

PS - PLEASE what is the default crystal setting? I changed min by accident, and forgot. I don't feel like waiting for it to fail AGAIN to have the setting restored to the default :-P

Best Regards,

dennis, not sure what you mean by default setting. if you are referring to the speed setting the 2 mkIV"s i have are between 600&700. from there it is trial and error altho' i think each number increment is 8'secs/yr + or -. i think there is a copy of the instr on the photo gallery. peter

Yes I am referring to the speed. It is something like 1314, when the watch powers up, but now I have been adjusting it for the last 6 months or so, because it is running too fast.

The reason I ask, it that it was SPOT ON with the default.

Oh and sorry but it is a mk III

i think the settings for the MkIII/IV are probably the same. what # are you showing now? 1314 sounds mighty fast to me. change it down to 700 and see what happens. peter

Dennis, it just dawned on me, but i think you are pushing the left slider back to see your speed reading?? the display you see is 1320? if so the 1 is the leap year setting and the speed reading is 320. i have a mkIII booklet and that is what the left back slider shows. in reality you are in the wrong year of the leap yr setting. it should be showing a 3 since we are in the 3rd year of the cycle. you should be showing a 3320. ;-) ;-) peter
