SAS SSC Synchronar

Post14 Feb 2024, 22:38

I am delighted to finally have got hold of a working Synchronar once more, this one from our gracious host via Ebay.

The module has been modified with a removable caseback, and Hanno also provided a charger for the batteries so you're not reliant on sun power alone.

The case and bracelet were NOS I think, not a mark on them.

In addition the module has some extra features such as 12/24 hr display selection, mm/dd or dd/mm selection, English or German Day names, Year setting and also a coarse and fine trimming feature for precise timekeeping.

I'm so grateful to Hanno for engineering this, it really makes for a futureproofed Synchronar which for me is the apex of LED digital watches.

It's a charger for the rechargeable cells.

Here's my old Synchronar, I've tried new cells but no life from the display.

Those old batteries have leaked and probably caused some damage

When you slide the left slider away from you it displays this:
Image
When I first got the watch it displayed L 7, then it changed to L 8, and now it's L 9.

On the older modules this was the trimming factor, but I haven't changed that.

So any ideas what this is? L for Luner = Moon Age? Hanno must know!

Mine is on it's way back to Hanno to get a software update, and to replace the plastic case back with a stainless steel one (mine has the new production Hanno module case - mine was the prototype).
I see now how the charger works, looks like you have to remove the case back to use it. I may skip buying that. How much was it?

If you send it to Hanno, he can most likely bring it back to life.
