polara batteries

Post22 Mar 2007, 17:10

I have read all the other questions and related answers to no avail. I have a polara which was bought new in 1971 but with the LCD invasion, I stopped using this one. The batteries died many years ago and I do not know which ones to use, in one of the answers I noticed that it said most LED watches use the 386 battery, this does not seem to be true in the Polara case as it appears to be too thin when the receptacle depth is measured, Can you offer any advise .Thank you

Try 357s; they are about 1mm thicker. Be careful, though; too much pressure on the contacts can break them or crack a circuit board. The cells should just barely project above the level of the plastic on the module.

357s.
If your watch has separate screw-in lids for batteries, 357s are what you need. I have them on my Polara and they fit perfectly. You can also check some battery cross-reference chart, but you can just buy two 357s.
Hope this helps - and good luck with your watch!!!

Sometimes 303 also fit nicely - if I'm not mistaken it's slightly different with a "nipple" on top of the negative side.

btw. the Polara is a 1975 watch
