Strange behavior on an early Hughes module.

Hello.

I got this nice watch with no name, with an early Hughes module (module 705A) with the dot-matrix LED. Everything works fine except that a couple of days ago the watch reset on its own. Then later as I was lightly cleaning the crystal with a cloth it reset again. I don't know why cleaning the crystal would cause it to reset I could repeat it over and over. BTW, pressing all 3 buttons (time, date, setting) at the same time resets the watch. I looked inside and all seems OK.

Hi. By reset do you mean that it went back to 12:00 (and 1 on the month button)? or do you mean that the hours started ticking by as when setting?

If it's going back to 12:00 or (whatever it starts up at) then it's probably just that the battery connections need cleaning. (See the tips section of www.thedigitalwatch.com). If it the hours are changing then it could be because the setting button is making an accidental contact with the module. Again probably just a case of cleaning the button from inside the case so it retracts fully.

That oughta do it.

Hi.

It resets to 0:00 and the month to 1. You may be right about the battery contacts. Yesterday before I posted the message I went in and cleaned the contacts again and it hasn't happened yet since then. If it does reset again I'll do a more thorough cleaning.
