Confused about Pulsars and CompuChron

Post14 Aug 2009, 02:57

I have a question,

My Father kept telling me the watch I have, which is a CompuChron is the same as the Pulsar company (one in the same) is he mistaken? I'm young (23) and I don't know too much about vintage LED watches.

Yes, your father was mistaken. CompuChron and Time Computer [who was the actual manufacturer; Pulsar was a brand name] were two totally unrelated corporate entities. CC did some nice mid-price watches from 1974-7, but Time Computer went all the way, to solid gold and one-of-a-kind designs that went well into the multikilobuck range [they were also the first to market an LED timepiece]. It was about the same difference between a good Timex, and a Rolex. CompuChrons in good working condition are still quite collectible. FWIW, I was 23 when I bought my first Pulsar [back in 1974], a SS Date/Command; I still have it, and it still works.
