Bowmar Watch & Module

Post23 Mar 2012, 19:01

I came across this in an old junk lot, I can't say I have seen a Bowmar made module before.
Pressing the bottom button displays the time, the top button doesn't do anything - anyone know what it should do? I suspect it should have at least a function in the setting procedure as the only way I can get the hours to set is by setting the watch to XX:59 and waiting for the minute to pass.
I can only get the watch to display the time but with two command buttons I would also expect it to have another function such as the date or month, it also seems a little odd that the bottom button activates the time display, usually I would expect the top button to do this and the bottom button for the date/month?

The module and case may not be original to each other? Is there any Bowmar branding on the caseback?

I also notice there is a 3rd button push on the module, but no corresponding button on the case - that might be meant set the hour?

Thank you for your thoughts, there are two command buttons at the 2 and 4 o'clock positions, the third button at 11 o'clock is the set button. I know that these watches do tend to get swapped around over the years but I am pretty sure that this one is all original, the case back is not stamped 'Bowmar' but the module and the band are clearly marked. The module has two quite large screws which attach it to the case, I think it would be very difficult to find a donor module from a different watch to marry with the case dimensions, button contacts and also line up with the screw holes.
