Does anyone know the real story on the pop-up drivers watch?

Post07 Jan 2007, 16:50

Hi all,
On Guy Ball's site, there are two pop-up drivers watches. One is a Benrus and the other is a Timex that is said to be a prototype that never went into production. The watches are pretty much identical. Does anyone have any real knowledge about this watch or it's history? Also, does anyone have any technical knowledge about it? I have parts to make two of these, but i'm uncertain how to put them together and what size batteries they take.

Sorry I can't answer most of your questions, but here's some photos (unfortunately I have no scanner) I took of the Benrus instructions. It takes 2 AG12/386 batteries, stacked one on top of the other.

Thanks Richard, that's a big help. One of the things I wasn't sure about was the batteries size and polarity, and it's always nice to have instructions. Do you have one of these watches too?

Hi Piotr, yep can't deny that :D I can't remember how much it went for but I know it was a good price, my problem with these watches is, as much as I love them, my head rules my heart, and my head says take the money! I've sold many beautiful watches over the years that I would have loved to have kept, but at least I got to own/play with all these watches when if I'd kept all my watches I wouldn't have made the money to keep buying more, if that makes any sense :?
