Hi Geoff, we've had a similar debate (on this forum) in the past regarding reproducing Omega crystals. You have to put what you are attempting to do in perspective to the turnover of HP. Are you likely to depress their share value?, rock their financial empire to the core? You are the equivalent of a very very small tick on the arse of one of the biggest cash cows in the world. Their response is a knee jerk reaction because its easier than actually listening and evaluating what your attempting to do (ie they can't be bothered) than going through the legalities of supplying you with a license to reproduce something they undoubtly own. You are not affecting their business in a financial manner. My advice (for whatever its worth) is to carry on and reproduce the crystal (with logo) you'll have no grief from HP, they won't even be bothered to swat you

Thanks, and I agree, gone is the company I dealt with in 1976 with my hp 25 and etc. Actually got a call at home from customer service back then.

Unfortunately the crystal fabrication company will not produce the crystal without permission from hp. I find this unusual as dial reproductions are done daily without brand permission. I know, I have had many redone on the Omega et al equivalents.

Any way I will talk to the crystal company and see how we can proceed.

Cheers all

don't bother with official permissions.
you will produce 20-30-50 crystals and all will be sucked up immediately by collectors and nobody will notice.
take your ready crystals to a small adverstising company or similar and they will for sure help you.
or contact Ale (T-bird) on this forum and he will create a joint-venture with you ;)
he made a few crystals with better logos than originals.
the paint is baked after application so some experience is necessary.
