Just got this Sandoz LED in the mail today via ebay from Spain. Works fine, havent bought a working
LED watch in about 35 years. I think this is late 70's vintage, movt is by Sharp.
Band not original. SS case is ~37mm, Red crystal/lens is ~32mm diameter.
I like the large signed "SANDOZ" on the crystal/lens, too many LEDs look generic to me
without something like that on there. Takes a couple of those large 386 batteries. Has a pretty nice
display sequence:

1st push - Time of Day - HH:MM ( 7:34) (no AM/PM indication)
2nd push - Weekday/Date ( WE. 7)
3rd push - Month/Date (10. 7)

If you press and hold the pusher for a few seconds, watch displays
seconds of time instead of HH:MM , & it flashes them once
per second to preserve batteries I presume.
Sets ( very easy ) via the recessed set mode pusher near 4 oclock.

This was supposedly NOS, not sure about that but it's in pretty damn nice
shape anyway. Fun to get one of these again. Any further info appreciated, Thanks in advance....

Nice watch JC.
I've got an early Sandoz LCD with setting buttons on the back of the case. It uses an Optel display, and possibly an Optel module. It's all heavy stainless steel, and very good quality. See here:

As far as I can tell, Sandoz digital watches are quite rare. They seldom appear on Ebay at all. This is probably why you haven't had much of a response here.........

Andrew.

the mechanical watch company by the name Tavannes [pronounced ta-von] was founded in 1891 in the town of Tavannes, Switzerland by a man named Henri Frederic Sandoz. this company is still around and makes both quartz and mechanical watches. i wonder if there is still family connections and if they did manufacture led's. there have been mechanical Sandoz watches around since early times. i have 2 8-day car clocks made by Sandoz, probably from around the 1920's-30's. their own factory made movements in them, as far as i know. peter
