By Design Or By Error?

Post08 Dec 2009, 01:46

I have two LED watches stamped KIC on the rear case they are identical apart from one is in SS and the other is in gold tone, I have visually inspected the modules from both watches and again they appear to be identical, both modules work and when lit up the displays have the same appearance i.e. same segment type with slightly leaning digits, the interesting thing is one module displays the month followed by the date whereas the other displays the date followed by the month - could this of been done in error during production or is it because one was produced for the European market and one for the USA market?
I also have a LED made by MBO which displays the date followed by the month but I have noticed identical models on eBay displaying month then date?
I understand that KIC is a USA manufacturer and MBO is a German manufacturer.

bucko - I'm thinking for the European market. I am curious if you have one that shows the month alpha style?. I have one of those, can't tell who manufacturer is,not even a guess. It's cute, shows "WE 09" then "DE 09"(for Wednesday, December 9th).

I have a couple of KIC watches and both are marked "Made in Korea" on the case and on the module (presumably South!)- if yours are by the same Company then quite logical for them to manufacture different modules for different foreign markets.

Thanks for the info, I figured it would have to be a pretty big goof to produce them by mistake!

Ed, the only watch that I have seen with the month displayed alpha style was one that was sold by Majestyk on eBay (if I remember correctly) and it was a 'Datatime' model.

I love the odd quirks found in LED watches an alpha month display is definitely on my wanted list. Is it just the module you have or is it in a case? Be nice to see a photo ;-)

.......Old Toms avatar is super cool.........the hunt for that one continues!
