Watch size

Post10 Dec 2012, 12:16

Good morning. I am proud owner of a Commodore LED and not so proud owner of a new Nixon "direct view". The Nixon is not a very good watch. So I decided to get a good vintage timepiece again. But I am a bit anxious that a real vintage watch would be small by todays standards. Nowadays all watches have 40+mm in diameter.

I looked into a Microtronic dress watch and a Compuchron. Does anyone know their approximate size and have some hints whether these are still wearable for a not so slim man in 2012?

I donĀ“t know the sizes of the above watches but if you want something big, take a Bulova Big Block or a Compuchron Calculator. :-D

I would recommend the Breitling 9106, with a diameter of 48mm it can easily keep up with the latest 40+ fashion trend - even though it was made in 1976.

thx for the replies! Most of the calculator watches are way out of my price range. A HP01 is sure big but alas maybe 10 times the price I wanted to pay. The watches in question are a Compuchron (normal, no caculator) and a Microtronic with integrated band, a dress watch then I assume.

There are many different CompuChron modules so it would help to supply a photo of the model that you have in mind, have a browse through the photos here http://www.ledwatches.net/photos-g-m.htm it might help you decide.
I am not familiar with 'Microtronic' could it be 'MicroSonic' you are thinking of?
