Restoring Case of Bulova Driver Led Watch

Post18 Feb 2016, 12:20

Hello everyone,

This is my first led watch ever, it arrived today.

I want restore the case to remove the scratches and the yellow colors that appears in some parts of the case.

I was very disappointed when I realized that the watch case was not made of steel.

I will change the stainless steel strap, because this one is not from this watch (It's a Titoni stainless steel bracelet).

Has anyone had experience in restoring the case of this watch? The buttons are easy to remove?

What about the crystal? Any suggestions before trying to remove?
If anyone has a good cosmetic condition case or a bracelet for this watch, I'm interested.

Thank you :-D

The buttons are held in place with a circlip according to this:
http://www.crazywatches.pl/bulova-compu ... 6-led-1976

Put some grease on the clip before pushing it off to stop it flying away (or do it inside a plastic bag).
Not sure about the glass.............heating the case might weaken the glue so that you can just push it off.

Good luck.
Rgds.

Circlips on the buttons.
Hairdryer to remove the crystal.

Find a good plater and have it replated.

I had one of my drivers re-plated in rose gold:

Okay,

First, resize your photos! Say 6 inches wide, use your photo app.

Second, remove the pushers, both reset and select pushers. They have o-rings and if good, you do not want to melt them. If hardened, Replace. Add silicone grease to the pusher assemblies after refinish in the case.

Three, remove the vinyl (clear plastic insulator) from inside the upper portion of the case (the ceiling), you can make a new one later.

Four, apply a hair dryer on high to the crystal from both sides. Heat it until it is too hot to touch. This will soften the epoxy. Remove. If it still stuck heat some more, both sides! Alcohol will dissolve and remaining epoxy from the case and crystal back.

Five, avoid the logo if you attempt to clean or polish the crystal.

Six, while working on the case I let the cleaned pushers and rear case gasket soak in silicone liquid. Get this from the car centre of your local car shop. Silicone spray for rubber gaskets and seals on door trims and etc for the car. Spray some in a small container and place the, pushers and case gasket in it.

Seven, lots of resized pictures!

Cheers.

My wife tells me that bigger is not always better and Yikes those photo's are big!!!! ;-)

.........Whilst the OP gets around to resizing the photo's if you right click on them and choose the 'open in a new tab' option it brings the photo's down to a viewable size.

On the iPad, place finger on image and hold, pop up box with 'save image' appears. Touch it and then open in photos app.

Hello guys,

Thank you everyone for tips. :Prost:

Finally I managed to remove the glass of the watch case. I put the watch case in a bowl with hot water. It worked perfectly.
The case has been taking a bath.
Once I have it, I will show the photos (I promise to be careful to resize the images :grin1: ).

Thank you all!
