Back Button Problem on eBay

Post19 Feb 2007, 18:22

Is any other forum member as irrated with the problem eBay is having with the back button function as I am??

MUCH more info here about the problem I am referring to:

http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa? ... 1897815183

I like others in the thread above have stopped selling on eBay as I was not getting the # of hits I was expecting based on past selling experiences. FYI - This is only one of MANY of eBay's OWN thread's on this subject.

Also, I have slowed down on my buying as it's becoming too painfull to "Go BacK" on eBay - just too much of a pain!!!

What experiences are other members of this forum having. i.e. slower sales, less bidding, etc

Yup, I've noticed this as well but it does not seem to do it all the time.

I'am not sure if its an Ebay problem as you are browsing using Windows which remembers the pages and sites you visit.

Its puzzled me... :?: :?: :?:

Looks like it's an eBays problem. On eBays technical forum there is a Feb 6th eBay technical support post acknowledging they have a problem.

Here is the link - note this is eBays OWN post.

I've never had a problem with it but I've been reading a lot about it in the last week. I use Firefox and never have the issues on Ebay that others report. I'm amazed how many still use IE.

I've had the problem with ebay too...really sucks. Firefox - some of us don't use it because it tends to be a security risk....in most emulations it opens a two way connection with the Firefox servers and won't work with common software & hardware firewalls in place. I maintain the systems for my brother's law office, and the machines where people kept installing Firefox are the one's that got badly infected with viruses and spyware. AFTER threatening to fire people that loaded it, he had me install software specifically to keep them from doing so..... :?:

Firefox, security risk. Hum. Never heard of that one. I got it because of all the Spyware I had with IE. I also don't like the way many web pages look with IE either.

Anyway, I don't have a network running, so I have no issues in that department.

I'm all for breaking away from the monopoly of MS but here is a link to some of the issues. http://www.oreillynet.com/windows/blog/2005/02/bad_news_about_firefox_securit.html
But hey, no browser is totally trouble free and compatible with every other browser. I'm just glad Navigator is no longer a contender..pain in the ass for web builders. :x

FYI - eBay admitted to the back button problem and indeed fixed it after probably 500 complaints about it The issue DEFINETLY WAS NOT browser related - it affected all browsers, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

I never had a problem with the back button. Nevertheless, I bet Ebay had over 5000 complaints. They wouldn't budge on 500. :) They won't even fix the indexing problem in which it can take up to 12 hours or more before your auction is listed on Ebay. Most sellers aren't even aware it's happening. They see it in MyEbay and figure everyone else sees it. WRONG! Sometimes the auction will initially show up and then it will go bye-bye for awhile and then come back. This has been going on now for over a year. If you ever wonder why you have a hot item up and it doesn't do well or gets no bids, this could be the case.
