Hi,
I received this nice Zenith:

Here is the inside:

How would you put the batteries?
When I received it (non working) , there was one + side up and the other down but I suspect they must be both up?
Any clue?

When viewing with the crystal at the bottom, the right side is (-) down, the left side is (+) down. Look in the bottom of the battery pockets...the right one has a bevel(chamfer) to stop the square corner of a positive from going down al the way. Unfortunately, the bevels are not shaped right to prevent "cell reversal damage" in cases where the contacts stick up like on this one, but they are instructive.

Also, right abouve the crystal there are + and - marks, which correspond to my suggestion.

I've never noticed the bevel in the battery compartments before. Thanks for the tip. I did see the + and - but thought that was just a guide for adjusting the trimmer, but it's very usefull that it also correspons with the battery positions. BTW, what battery cell size does it take? Cheers

The plus minus signs are for the fast slow adjustment, not the batteries.

Thanks guys for all your inputs.
I've put 2 batteries the right way and ...it works!
I bought it with this mention:
"Quartz Movement in non working Order, I have tried new batteries but it did not work so will need attention."
The guy didn't know about the on/off button.
Thanks again!!! :D

Hi,
the T& co that I received is in beautifull condition but doesn't work , it's on its way to Ed's nest to check what's wrong.
But since I received another "dead" Zenith which is nicely working once you push the on off button ! (to be honnest this one has a broken battery clamp too )

I find those Zeniths very intriguing! I hope you get them both working!

They are both working perfectly now and in fact the SS one is the watch I wore the most recently. It's a very nice everyday watch.
