How do I use Pulsar P3?

Post05 Dec 2007, 16:10

I recently ebayed myself a Pulsar Date Command P3. How do I use it? When I push the left button, it shows the first 2 digits and last digit. When I push the right button: nothing happens. When I push the two buttons: same result as left button. Magnet settings is working..This is the watch:

So you have a watch that was described 100% working.with a missing digit and the date not working, if I read that correctly. At least replace the batteries, and see what happens. If you get the same result, inform the seller and file a dispute with Paypal.

Probably not. Sounds like the right button is totally unresponsive. Without the right button, you can't get into date setting mode, so your watch may be set to January(one left digit) and the date. Pressing right and left together does nothing unless setting date, so that is inconclusive. If magnet changes time settings, and time seems to be clicking ahead when you come back to it after a while( touch the magnet to the time setting identations), it is keeping time. Try pressing the right button only, using the SETTING MAGNET to push it. If the magnet in the button is weak, you may get it to respond with more magnetism. Or it may need a new reed switch(magnetically activated) on that side. Nothing to despair over.

Sounds like the left button may display the date correctly, which, if set for the current date, would only display 3 digits (being the 7/12).

As Retroleds says, sounds like the right button is not working for some reason. Try carefully shorting each end of the reed switch with a piece of wire (obviously the module needs to be removed to do this). This will bypass the magnetic button and the reed switch. If the time lights up, then it's a fairly minor fix to adjust the button/switch arrangement.

Higgie was very helpful and made a diagnose: the chip is damaged, buttons are working correctly. Seller assured me that the watch was send fully working. He assumes that it must be broken during transportation. Now I have a Pulsar that doesn't work fully and almost nothing worth. I wonder: when you won an auction for a beautiful working Pulsar for a lot of money there's still a high risk that the watch is damaged during transportation due to the age and sensitivity of this type of watches. What's the alternative of getting your vintage watch unharmed at your home? :-(

Hmmmm, damaged in transit - that sounds like it was badly packed unless it really took a knock - and you'd see damage to the packaging if it had. How was it packaged? You might still be able to claim if you can prove he failed to take adequate care in sending it. The seller has a duty to send things safely.

I am struggling with the "damaged in transit" theory. A Pulsar Date Command is not a fragile watch. I think you need to contact the seller and try to work with him. If he is unwilling to do so, and you paid with PayPal, file a claim against the seller. There are several people on this board who could probably repair your watch, but you shouldn't have to go there when you purchased a watch that was said to be in working condition.

The watch was very well packed and the package had no damage at all.
I regret I didn't pay with paypal, I made an international transaction..
Can somebody recommend me a repair service in Europe?
