forget narrowing the search details to year etc..
you can miss buried items that maybe incorrectly listed.

sorry for rant, but that ton of modern rubbish you have to wade thru to find anything vintage is really dull..
(and yes i run various searches under various titiles..1970s.vintage .etc etc
but you still have to go thru the "led "section

Yes there is definitely more new LED watches being listed as vintage and it is very annoying

One of the other flaws I have found with eBay is that with eBay.com (the USA version) watches can be placed into age groups whereas in the UK they can only be grouped in accordance to condition that is either new or used (not specified if left blank) so a worldwide search using the filters means a high probability of missing items which could be of interest - not good for buyers or sellers, why could they not standardize, I think the age group is a good idea we should have it in the UK.

Agreed 100%!
Annoying modern junk...

I gave up searching for LED watches on ebay about a year ago. I used to do it just for fun because I'm not actually collecting, just interested. Now it's no fun any more.

I would help a lot if it was possible to exclude sellers from certain countries (Hongkong!).

Luckily, this problem is not present with vintage pocket calculators, my current area of interest ;-)

My current favorite search string:
LED watch -luxury -retor -blue -sport -dual -cool -japan -animated -fashion -fun -trendy -pulse -div

"-" means to exclude a word. No, "retor" is not a typo, many Asian sellers seem to misspell "retro". M:)W:)M

I still go with " LED watch" and check the ending soonest for about 12-18 hrs. back...it's all I can stand. Yeah, close to 3000 results if you put "LED watch", yet only probably 50 items most of us would consider.

Speaking of missing ebay features: why is it a seller can block a buyer, but a buyer can't block a seller from their search results? I know who I DON'T want to deal with again, why can't I strain them out, like "the thickest layer of scum in the septic tank"(that phrase is borrowed from Dennis Klien....I like it!! :-P )

If you just look in order of ending, you will be buried alive in the junk listings. My strategy is to look at "highest price first"...all the good stuff shows up in the first page or so. And if you're up for a real shock, just put "watch" in the search engine, with the same parameter, and sear an eyeball on the quarter-to-half-million-dollar Pateks, VCs, Rolexes, and IWCs...the nicest P1 on the planet wouldn't make a decent down payment on the cheapest of them...sort of puts the Pulsar prices in perspective...
Just checked....a Patek at $1.4M and another at $1.25M...least expensive thing in the first 100 listings....80 grand...makes even the Grimas look cheap; like I said...puts it all in a new perspective.
