Need help identifying a Gold LED watch...

Post15 Jan 2009, 19:24

Ok, I only have one picture to go with but I think it might be enough. A mate of mine just picked this up but has no clue what it is. I'm waiting for him to finish work so I can get more photos but in the meantime does anyone know what the watch in the attached picture is?

It's a Pultron VIP- rather nice when they work! Has hours, minutes, date, month, seconds and a brightness sensor to adjust the LED display (I'm writing this from the instructions). In the UK they were imported by TMT Ltd, Green Street, London W1 in the Summer of 1975 and cost stg £59.00. It would normally have told you what the watch is on the lid lining but I see this is missing.

Is it a URANUS module?
I had one like this and I'm pretty sure it had a URANUS module.
I remember the timescreen is not red but rather purple like some other URANUS.

The White part in the lid is the "pristine" instruction book. Which funnily enough has no details at all of the company that made it or (as far as can be found) model numbers of the watch itself. Just spoke to my mate and the watch is one its way to me in the next couple of days for what he paid for it... £10
Apparently the whole thing is spotless and he doesnt think it's ever been worn.

Never been a fan of gold watches but actually quite excited

If you check out the link you will see a photograph showing the inside of the lid with Pultron stamped across it.
The instructions which are visible in your picture also look to be the same, notice the lines on the booklet front.

I think Old Tom was spot on.

Quite a bargain for £10 a bigger one if it works of course.

Bit of a longshot this, but any ideas where I can get one fixed? I've got a pultron vip (my grandfathers retirement gold watch in 1976!), it hasn't worked for over 25 years. I'd even go for a donor watch to get a crystal & battery. Any sugestions gratefully received. Thanks

Welcome to the forum Rhodriguez.

Repairs are possible to the watch but it would need to be examined to ascertain what the exact fault is first. In the worst case scenario I would also expect a replacement module to be relatively easy to come by.
When you say that the watch does not work, do you mean that it is completely dead or does it show some signs of life? Any details you can give may be helpful in diagnosing the nature of the fault.
There are a few members of the forum who are capable of repairing LED watches (sadly not myself) but it would help to post a couple of photo's of the watch and including a photo of the module is always a good idea.
The most common problem with the LED watches occur when the batteries have been left in and the acid leaks out of the batteries and 'eats' the module (the dreaded green death.)
Those that offer repair can get very busy and so you may have to be a little patient in waiting for a slot to become available - they are worth the wait !

Good Luck.
