Damn #$@! The HP-01 is one of my Holy Grails but I have not bought one yet due to the high price, usually over $1K USD.
These are great prices... now please excuse me while I go kick myself in the arse!

I also suspect many missed them due to the description, there is no mention of LED, vintage, digital or even calculator in the title: these are the types of listing that we all like to stumble across and the ones that we kick ourselves for not stumbling across (LEDluvr I feel your pain) still there are potentially 3 lucky buggers out there or even just one extremely lucky bugger

Well It seems to me that there are plenty of those watches on the market
I don't really get it .A lot of people want to get rich by overpricing some of these units . I just bought a working one for $350 on ebay .

I have now almost closed a deal on a GF for $500 .So there are units out there .
To me is about using them and wearing them .In any case i starting to have ideas about making my own watch .A real scientific one .With real instrumentation for any engineer .

I noticed the description says "LED's do not fully display"- this is probably why it went for $350. A great price, yes. But if it can not be repaired then it's not such a great price afterall. I hope for the best.

There is nothing wrong with that one - as I explained to the guy, there are no proper battery contacts for the bottom two batteries on that model(snap on back). So I slipped in a thin removable contact. It was working great for me and apparently him for some period. When it flaked on him a bit, I explained he could pop the back and remove that contact and see if he has better luck with the case back making the contact. And offered to attend to it at no charge or shipping. Never heard from him again....maybe he didn't like me suggesting he NOT get terribly pissy(like his auction) until he sees if I am at all responsive. Hard for me to deal with a customer that thinks my job is to rectify all sins of the original manufacturer. Snap!
