Pulsar P1

Post07 Jun 2010, 07:25

I guess I'm the "sniper" who bought that P1 last month!! I have a few pulsars now, but never really expected to have a P1 in my little collection! Mind you I wanted one even way back when they sold new, Just couldn't afford it. I've been enjoying reading many of your conversations, and find them to be quite en-lightning. I have a lot to learn. And no I am not about to scrap it for the "old broken gold". Just thought I would introduce myself, and hope to joint in conversations in the near future. I noticed a comment on the non gold battery cover on my watch. I managed to find a gold P1 cover to replace it. One thing I would like to add is if anyone has or knows where I could find a working module for the P1 I would be very interested! I don't seriously expect to find one, but I learned a long time ago, it never hurts to ask, and if it gives someone a smile its all worth while!!

Some pictures would be nice.
Have you opened it yet ?
You're going to need a gold battery hatch for that one. That steel(?) one really lets it down. Some came up on Ebay a while back. If you're lucky, someone might offer you one.
There seemed to be a chip floating around inside that P1. Not a good sign !

A working p1 module is probably a lot more realistic than you think. It's just a P2 on a different carrier with the reed switches arranged differently.
Bruce Wegmann is the man to advise.......I'm sure he'll be along soon !

Andrew.

Yes, I thought about this one very hard as the seconds ticked down, and decided to let it go. The replacement battery covers were out there some time back, but no telling if any are available now; hopefully, somebody bought a pair who only needed one, and might be induced to parting with the extra. The big issue is the module. The ED movement ring [the black plastic part] is different from the later re-fit version that uses an early P2 circuit board (the 201-1 module). But, even if it weren't, I wouldn't scrap the ED module to put in P2 electronics [it's worth a decent bit, as it is]. You need a loose, dead, re-fitted module to work on, and I haven't a clue where you might find such a thing. That makes this watch, for the present, at least, unrepairable, so the decision to sit the auction out wasn't as difficult as you might imagine. I'll just have to suffer along with the eight P1s I have... ;-) As far as any cosmetic restoration goes...I can definitely help you there...I've had more of these apart than just about anybody.
