Pulsar Stats - How Many Of Each Were Made?

Post18 Jun 2010, 23:19

Pulsar fans,

Forgive me if this has been covered before, but I was looking for a breakdown of how many of each model were produced.

Anyone know these stats or where they can be found?

: Pulsar Stats - How Many Of Each Were Made?

With the exception of a few specific models, the P1, the 14K Pulse-Time, and the Limited Edition 18K Calculators, no definite numbers exist for the Pulsar watches. A couple years ago, I got into some serious hot water with the Evil One [sorry; I will never think of him in terms more positive than that], when, based on known serial numbers and blocks, I estimated the total production at Time Computer to be 550,000 watches [of which, not more than 5 or 10 thousand, probably less, were in solid gold], give or take 50K or so. I was told I didn't know what I was talking about, was spreading "misinformation", obscuring "facts", and summarily dismissed. Nobody, including my detractor, offered alternate figures. I few months ago, I saw virtually the same number used on his website, and there were no objections. So, I'm sticking to my original estimate. Breaking it down by individual model would be essentially a hopeless task, unless [as I have been suggesting for years] a serial number registry can be established. When you consider that the first 200,000 were all P2s and P3s, and virtually hand-assembled, Time Computer's production was a remarkable achievement. How many survive today in working condition is anybody's guess [I'm thinking 1-in-3 to 1-in-5].

So just let that negative stuff go Bruce.
