Data time corporation- Anyone know anything about this watch

Hi, this is my first posting. I just picked up a digital watch made by a company called 'Data time corporation', it looks like a 70's watch although the only information I could find abou this company indicates that they didn't officially register their company name until the late 70's and are no longer around.
The LEDs seemed to light up now and again when I first got the watch, but now it seems not to light up at all.
Anyone recognise this watch, or know anything about the company who made it?

Sorry no one has replied to your question (I've only just seen it myself) Datatime is one of the run of the mill makes but it is a genuine 70's LED watch all the same so its worth trying to get it going again, please describe exactly what the display is showing when the batteries are inserted.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunatley, nothing is displaying on the LED anymore, when it was working it was temperamental, showing numbers now and again, but I guess now nothing is showing there must be a pretty serious problem with it.

These modules are quite susceptible to leaked battery acid, of the few non workers I've come across with signs of battery corrosion they have been bin jobs the exposed wire bonds get corroded and it stops working, in your last picture its seems like the I.C. is missing but its difficult to tell as the picture is out of focus at that bit so I went and dug out an old Datatime module from my parts box and it has a black protective sealer over the I.C. (see pic) does your watch look like there is sealer over the chip or is it missing.

Klippie has nailed it - kind of pos modules that were very unprotected from battery acid. Don't be discouraged, but avoid those. You were right on the history - they were late to the game, and only there for the money. So they schlocked out crap.

Contrast this with the equally cheap, but much earlier Collins modules - made in Hong Kong, but well protected with rubber over the whole display. It's like condoms, your whole life can be changed by a few cents worth of rubber.

Thanks for the feedback- no prtoective coating at all on the I.C on my watch - luckily I paid less than 2 dollars for the watch, so if it's trashed, I'm not out of pocket by much!

That's the right attitude - people spend a lot more money on all sorts of things others would consider frivolous. You'll find some real winner on the cheap too and your eye will get better as you go along.
