Howdy all! What a blast it is to look at pictures of all these lovely old watches.
I've been on this clutter-busting kick for the last few months... in the process of cleaning out my attic I came across a watch that my dad gave me for my 12th birthday back in 1976. Ya, aging myself here... but I remember I was THE coolest kid in school with that watch. Couldn't stop checking the time every minute or so cause it was just so nifty.
Then the batteries died - only had the watch about a month or so, and my dad couldn't find replacement batteries anywhere. So he bought me a traditional wind-up watch, and I put my cool watch away into a trinkets box where it has remained ever since until I decided it was time to get rid of all the clutter and junk filling my house.
It's still so cool looking. It's bright shiny stainless steel throughout - the scanner kind of gives it a bit of a brownish tint, so ignore that. Yes, those are the ORIGINAL batteries still in there, lucky they didn't leak... gonna try to find replacements and see if it still works. It should.
Hard to read the etching on the inside of the back cover, but I think it says "Winert Watch Co" Hong Kong. On the clasp is etched "No.16HL" and "100% Stainless Steel Hong Kong."
The module inside, printed on the edge says "Assembled in Taiwan Hughes Aircraft Co" and also, "Unadjusted No Jewels"
Anyone have any information on this watch or company that they could share with me? Any idea of value?
Anyways, I've thoroughly enjoyed the photos of everyone's beautiful old watches here and thought I would share some scans of it - camera broke, so just scanned it on the flatbed, sorry not awesome quality.
