identification/function help!

Post14 Oct 2010, 01:05

I just started collecting led watches and I was looking for a bit of help. Recently I found this watch at a flea market. It is marked Seiko on the band..

Image

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I'm not sure if the case is actually a Seiko though- it has a slightly different finish than the band, and I couldn't find any information about Seiko leds. Does anyone have any ideas?

The button labeled 'C' in the image, shows the time when pressed once, date when pressed twice and day of the week when pressed three times.

The buttons marked 'A' and 'B' are puzzling me though. I think they may be some kind of stopwatch but I am having a hard time figuring it out. When you press the 'A' button, it displays a sequence of digits and either an A or a P (for AM or PM). Like this:

first press 3: P
second press 3:3
third press 3:34

the 'B' button allows you to change these digits after you have pressed the 'A' button, and the AM and PM function. If you press 'B' on its own, it flashes (in my example, that would be 3:34).

It doesn't change or keep time, so I don't think it's a second time zone function..I really don't know what it could be. I can't get it to run like a stop watch either.

Any help is much appreciated. Thank-you in advance!

Welcome ebcw,
you are correct- the watch band is Seiko in origin, but the watch is not. Not sure what brand it is though... :-?

That watch probablyhas a Frontier alarm module in it from what you describe. The back will have an slightly protruding shape, and 6-8 slots around the edge of the raised portion. Gets even more interesting on the inside, with two fine springs coming up through a very interesting battery clip.

Yes, you're right. It does have a protruding back, with the slots.

Does this mean it makes sound?? If only I could figure out how to set it!

Press button A to select the desired time for the alarm to sound then press button B until the display flashes, the flashing display indicates the alarm is set.
Wait and see if it works.

Yes it does look like the microsonic, although mine has another button and a brushed metal finish rather than the smooth finish. I have a feeling it may be a sort of knock off version of one of these..

I got the alarm set, although it doesn't make sound...or so I thought. Last night I was woken up by a strange beeping- it was the watch randomly going off at a time when the alarm wasn't even set. Hmmm..
