Seiko 0624 shocker

Post07 Nov 2010, 07:18

What happened to the value of these Seiko's? They used to go for big bucks.

I remember a scratched and defective one went for $100, back in the summer.

Yes,someone has bagged a complete bargain here. The 0624 imo is the most beautiful of all digital watches,i considered it as a daily wear as i dont want to use my own unmarked model.I gave it a miss as i thought it would climb to around $400 plus.Quality and design is among the best and the yellow display and curved segments are outstanding. Its rare to boot! :O`~

I really like that model too. Chalk the low price to the recession I guess..

Yeah but I see a lot of crap watches getting big bucks lately. I mean this scratched up, run of the mill Seiko, got way more than it should have:

And check out this! It has gouges on it! Of course georgiosk2007 is the mother of all shill bidders, so that's probably one reason why it's so high. :-?

That probably explains the private auction..."bidders' identities protected" crap. That way, you can't see who the shills are...

I've always hated that 'private auction' b.s. I don't know why ebay thinks it's a good idea to allow those.
Nice Seiko, but the price is definitely high for these times.
Shill bidding or not, someone was OK with paying that much. I don't know what people are thinking these days...

i will agree with that. it was nice to know who was bidding. then at least if it was someone you knew, especially a forum member, there was a choice of whether or not you wanted the item seriously enough to keep driving the price up or let it go for what it was worth in real money. i hate bidding against a friend. peter

Have you all noticed how ebay has completely transmogrified into just another sales site of cheap chinese crap? with BIN listings, or pseudo auctions that start at the BIN price?

The few genuine old-style auction listings by low feedback new members may be the reason much of that old 70-80's LCD crap is steaming hot, and brings higher ending prices. Even the real auctions are a novelty

Ain't that the truth JThomas. The 'bay has become an on-line swap meet of sorts - selling all sorts of cheap Chinese stuff - mostly of 'questionable quality'.

With the inflationary practices the US Govt. is currently playing with, we all may get hit with ridiculously high prices to buy everything we need. Then you'll see ebay flooded with real acutions - but no one will want to spend the $ on watches, etc. then....
Just my two cents = "quantatatively eased" into 0.5 cents.

And speaking of ridiculously priced acutions:

This is a real nice watch, but if it sells for this amount I'll be a bit surprised. BTW - does anyone know anything about this seller? He always seems to have vintage Seiko's for sale - in top condition or clsoe to it.

The only thing I know about him is he gets on average of $200 more than other sellers, selling the same or better items. I've seen him get $400 for dual/analog LCD watches. Maybe most of his client-el are from Greece, and don't like to buy outside their country.

That watch he sold didn't even have a box or instructions! Crazy!

Here's another head scratcher:

A hacked up watch with gouges all over it.

Here's a big gamble. I hope it pays off for the winner.
