Nice HP-01 Starting Low

Noticed this one while conducting a dream search. Reasonably listed and a possible steal, if noone bids on it. Even the opening bid is too high for me.

There was only gold plating that remained on top of a soup of Cu in liquid form and the interlayer vias had dissolved too.

..As Campbell's used to say for their chunky soup, "so thick you could eat it with a fork, but use a spoon so you don't miss a drop".

Jeff, that was a spot on observation of these HP-01 watches. This watch is working but upon closer inspection of the photos there are defiantly signs of manipulation on the band lugs and case back. The seller "appears" to be a noob and may not have the wearwithall to shuck and jive a item like this, but then again, I'm gullable. I have the non workers in my collection to prove it...

Just found another one in stainless steel on Ebay, starting at $88.88, in my home state of Wisconsin, to boot. I am going for this one to be sure.

Being as it's the holiday season, there's a few HP-01's on the 'bay today.
This one is about as spotless at it gets. Barely a scuff on the band. Not a single divot or chip in the crystal, and it works.

Even though the price is low, expect a few sport bidding pecks before the closing snipe at around $1400.00 and if the reserve isn't met, the seller's intelligence probably matches their feedback rating.

Simply amazing condition, and the band stylus is scuff free.

FWIW, the moleskin cover on the inner box tends to stick to almost anything as the chemicals in the plastic break down over time.

I particularly liked this line in the description " so the picture of the close up face is not this actual watch".

Don't worry about my grumbling I am just in somewhat of a bad mode because it seems every possibly interesting Ebay auction I look at has some sort of nonsense attached along the lines of "not photo of actual watch, but it looks like this" or "I didn't have batteries to test it (even though a quick flick through the feedback reveals them to be an avid collector of the type of watch involved- I could name & shame at least five sellers who are guilty of this)" or "I couldn't take the back off so sold as-is". I have been on Ebay for a long time but it appears to me that this has become a whole lot more common of late.

In this specific case I'm rather confident that the seller is ok.
I asked him if the watch was working (the question in the auction is mine) and short time later there was an answer (in correct English) and an additional photo. What do you want more?
