Actually, it's not clear how badly the module is malfunctioning, but, other, cheaper LEDs do use the same electronics. It's transplanting them into the plastic Omega module shell that's a bit tricky. A fully, properly working module might double the value of this watch. It certainly ranks as one of the most attractive and elegant LEDs ever made.
