Different cases on the Dress?

Post22 Feb 2011, 01:31

I just noticed this difference in case design (or is it the band??).

Why are these different?

I see this difference on Oldpulsars.com model pictures as well, and there they are listed as 5408 and 7408. Is that a coincident, or are all with the variation on the right solid gold models?? :-?

No, the variation on the right is not always solid gold, in fact, a great number of those were produced in gold fill, with same Pulsar clasp as all their other models. The solid gold Dress models have a much smoother mesh to the band, and hook type clasp which has no magnet compartment. or adjustment(two different hook spots, but only a few mm of change).

oldpulsars is not explaining or showing a model number for the g/f variation on right, with the "hanging brow". I'm surprised he isn't showing a better picture, since that case is really common.

Is it just me, or is that an ugly way to connect the band?

Just pulled the Pulsar Jeweler's Manual out [available off our Home page, under the Digital Workbench heading] Pg. 36 shows a case part number 4871, which is a 14kt, YGF, with a permanently attached bracelet. They indicate the model numbers 5408(standard g/f Men's Dress, without the permanent band), and 7408(the solid gold). Apparently the case with the permanently attached band wasn't issued a separate model number - but was made in g/f. I have a 6-8 of those in my scrap gold bucket - I've never bothered to fix one up, only raided them for their module and/or screen.
