Here in Europe pi day is either on April 31st (31.4) or Duodecimber 3rd (3.14) - and thus never, as neither date exists :-(

And I'm not going to comment on "tasty pi" (in probably every language but English, pi is pronounced "pee").

It's almost spring...eating asparagus will give you green pi/pee. Wearing green Pulsars just makes others green with envy. M:)W:)M

Speaking of "Wearing of the Green" - who's preparing for St. Patrick's Day? I'm 3/4 German and the rest is a mix of Italian, Dutch and Native American, but I've got my corned beef brisket and my cabbage, which will be cooked with a small amount of potatoes, rutabaga and onion since I don't feel I have to be "traditional". Lot of Irish pride in this town, "Highland".

Oh, and I got this cool green t-shirt for the day.

OMG, we totally forgot to celebrate Euler day on feb, 71st (except for Europeans, because neither pi nor Euler date exists.)

Could THIS be the reason why e is much less known than π? Nice "photo" BTW 8-)

SASM,

Nice 'shop job! Very convincing.

That reminds me, check out this cool solid gold Pulsar Dress with orange LED display. It's super duper rare - bet you haven't seen one before. :-)

'Course, I'm wearing the green one today (3/17).

I can't help but wonder: if LED watches had kept going for a while longer, if the LCD watch had come along maybe 5 years later than it did, then maybe we would have seen watches like this Orange LED Pulsar. Who knows how many more color variations would have graced the stores :?:

LEDLuvr - you missed the point. That is the exact same watch shown green above. Compare the scratches, etc. :-)

LEDLuvr,

Thanks for mentioning that. That's actually exactly what I was thinking and why I chose to depict orange (orange and rose gold would have been attractive, I think). Yellow would also have been possible with the technology of the time. Blue would have to wait another 20 years and it seems that there are still difficulties with violet. It's fun to think about what might have been - I'm sure the Pulsar engineers were in no way out of ideas.

I like the g/f Men's Dress with the green glass. That was actually done - I have one. Unfortunately, the wife was partial to it too - it now wears a brown lizard [Pulsar] band set up for her. :x

Yeah, some other colors would have been cool. Yellow display against yellow glass...I'll have to wrap my head around that.

Yes Ed, I realize it's the same watch as the genuinely green Pulsar LED that is at the beginning of this post. I an not an eagle but I could see that much. ;-) I know the orange, and now purple watches are fanciful photoshop pics. What I'm saying is; these may have actually been manufactured by Pulsar and other companies IF the LED watch craze had not died out so soon. As we all know, there are orange, yellow, blue LED watches on eaby these days, but these are Chinese cheapos.
I'm just wondering what could have been produced in the 1970's and early 80's IF the LCD watch had not come along so soon and 'took over the market' so to speak.

Your wife has good taste Ed, no one here can disagree with that!
The Pulsar Greenie is still on the Holy Grail List for me.
I wonder.... I know, this is becoming a bad habit  .... if you or someone could frankenstein a Pulsar Sport or P2 into a Green LED hybrid? I think the main problem would be finding an suitable crystal. And then there's the 'minor fact' of killing off a perfectly good Green Men's Dress or CompuChron. :-?

Ed,

Perhaps with the sapphire laminated time screen approach, they could have made multicolored displays. Yellow might be more appealing in combination. I don't know if this works or not - there's a bit too much going on with the display. Still, it would definitely be eye catching:

Or perhaps something like this:

p.s. I can imagine your wife's Dress Pulsar. She does have good taste - at least in wristwear. :-)

Awesome - thanks for the article Bucko170. I would have gone with SS instead of Gold but other than this Frankie looks superb! I keep forgetting the dwf.cc forum exists - but it seems there are some familiar (watch) faces there too.....
