LED watch in the movie "Damnation Alley"

Post15 Apr 2011, 06:49

Had the TV on in the background tonight while surfing, and the movie "Damnation Alley" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075909/ was on. I happened to glance up at the screen and noticed George Peppard is wearing what looks to be an LED watch throughout the entire movie. I can't quite make it out, it looks like it could be a Pulsar P2/P3, but the crystal doesn't look right. If you look @ this

youtube video @ the 2:38 mark, that's about as good a shot as you'll get of it. Any ideas on what it could be? It doesn't look familiar to me.

EDIT: Looking at that vid again, it's not a Pulsar, the buttons looks to be @ the 2 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions.

Quite a product placement for a generic type of watch.

Great, if cheesy movie. I like thge scene near the beginning where Jan Michael-Vincent is screwing around on his dirt bike and it looks like he has a hot babe on the back. Then big scorpions come out after him and he dumps the babe, to the horror of the other guys watching via binoculars from their encampment. Turns out the babe was a mannequin. M:)W:)M

And the killer cockroaches - classic stuff.

Oh, yeah, the watch - pretty nondescript.

Paul Winfield also wears an LED watch - gold, 3:53, 5:56, or in part 2 at 1:04, 3:43 - and there's a TI "navigation computer" at 14:41

Yeah, I noticed those LED watches in "Damnation Alley" too. But at the time, LED watches were fairly common and so I didn't try to figure out the brand then. Funny to watch it again (YouTube has all of the parts loaded). The "Land Master" was quite a vehicle. Dean Jefferies constructed it and the thing was quite viable. Before it decayed long after the movie was finished, there was a request to use it in some production, so Dean was able to retrieve it and restore it. It's still around. I wonder who might have those LED watches that were actually in the movie. :-P
