And there's the F91W right up there! Number one in Germany and the UK.

I'm sure Casio is #1 in Afghanistan and Pakistan too... but not the pink version.

Since they are #1 overall worldwide that stands to reason.

The base, wr50, ss, gold and coloured versions together are outselling the rest by

On the business side it is a bit more complicated.
The margins are low and about 350 (mixed bag) make for one Rolex DeeSea in price.
Well over 1000 need be sold to get the profit range as on said single Rolex.

The significance of it all is not in these Casios selling big time but is the increadible popularity of electronic digital watches, wether Casio or Timex, Fossil or DKNY.

I have a feeling that part of the reason why the F91W is a top seller is due to the recent media bit about terrorists wearing it. At only $9.99 shipped (if your shopping cart total exceeds $25), it's an easy buy for even the most frugal person. I wouldn't be surprised if some kids in school who consider themselves "bad @ss" have bought these for that reason. There's already a slew of joke terrorist reviews for it on Amazon.

And then of course, it's a seriously great value considering the meager investment and the fine performance delivered. :-)

Anyway, it's an interesting metric to see digitals crowding the top watch sales on Amazon, but one must also consider the price point. I'd really like to see some worldwide sales metrics on digital and analog watches at various price levels (e.g. $10-$99, $100-$199, $200-$300, etc).

It was a top seller befóre 911, befóre any Al Queda bombings.
That was the whole point; apart from cheap but reliable, for sale anywhere and untraceable; nothing special in ány way.
That is why they used them

The subject is that digital watches are top sellers. Not just the Casios.
In the US it is mainly Timexes.
During the nineties they made up about 45% of quartz watches sold.
Electronic digitals are back!!!

There is no arguing that digitals are the top selling watches on Amazon. However, should we start to separate the usage of the watch? I would wager that the top selling digitals are used for casual wear and sports. I'll bet that many (most?) people who purchase watches for formal wear or work don't get them from Amazon.

Not that it really matters if you are just interested that digitals are top purchases in general. :-)

Hear - Hear! Long Live Digitals! :-D :-D

If you think about it (and I am sure everyone on this site has) the future is Digital. They are not going away as some were saying in the 1990's when the analogues were resurging. The popularity of the 'fashionable digiatls' like the DKNY, Fossil and Diesel brands is evidence of that. True, they are all made in China and many share the same module, but the 'packaging' - the case, band, box and the way it's marketed - is more 'upscale'. One tends to find these in the "nice" department stores like Macy's, Nordstroms, Dillards, etc. in the US. I beleive they are found in the comparable stores in Europe and Japan.
We aren't at the point where the P1 was- 18K Gold sold in Tiffany's of NY, but the trend is positive. In other words, digital watches aren't just for kids anymore. :-D
(They never were IMO.)

There are very few higher end digital watches so they are not realy found anywhere but at ´specialist places ;-)

Over here you will find the Hamilton with Omega and the like. Either in ADs or higher end store. Ditto the TAGs.
The Pulsomatic has not reached these yet and the digital TAGs need be ordered.
Ventura is a specialist AD watch and the Seiko EPD is Brightz line which is véry limited in Europe.

High end means near the top, which is only a pointy bit = no volume of sales = limited # of outlets.
See the P1 too
In the modern world we have no limitation to physical shops anymore and this makes the limited distribution of high(er) end watches more limited.

Take a look at Ventura;
1.There will not be more than a handfull sold in the whole of Spain.
2.Those five buyers in a bíg country will likely not be near where the five watches are.
3. AD´s cannot stock for that.
4. They have an internet store, which makes it less attractive still to stock one.

This will not change unless it gets to mass production volume sales and huge margins, with models that do not change much like Rolex.
I prefer the exclusivity of the well made digital ;-)

In Germany there are some shops that sell Ventura.
Shops are important as especially the high end watches appeal a lot by their "wrist feeling". E.g. the Titanox on the v-tec Kappa is such a wonderful material to touch that you always want to caress it ;-). It doesn't stick to the skin, doesn't attract fingerprints, never looks smudged - which is the exact opposite of my black Durinox v-tec Delta. Funny enough, the Sparc-fx (also Titanox) feels different again.
These are things you simply can't experience online. You need the "hands-on" experience - at least if you actually want to wear the watches and not only look at them. I took a 600km journey (and spent 150€ for fuel...) just to get the Kappa directly from the German Ventura service center in Würzburg. I wanted to touch it before I buy.

At least they are paying accordingly.
There is no discussing taste and having money is no indication:

$850 for just this  dial.
