F*ck someone hacked my Visa!!

Post29 Oct 2011, 09:52

I'm done with ebay for a while..just had my last bill from my Visa card and we discovered that someone is buying flight tickets and other stuff with my Visa card. Thats 2500 euro by now!!
Yes my paypal is linked with my Visa. Been buying maybe 20 things from ebay with paypal the last month and we used our Visa card just ones in a posh hotel in the Netherlands...thats all.
My pc is pretty secured and no i've have not given the numbers to someone else or typed it on my pc on another webside except paying with paypal on ebay.

We blocked our card immediatly...but hopes for money recovery is nihil.
And now we are still searching how the hell it was possible and where?
Was it paypal? was it the posh hotel? We still have no idea.

My card was used fraudulently to obtain foreign currency, I contacted the bank who passed it onto their fraud department they investigated and my money was refunded in full within a week. They said that anyone who had access to the card number could of passed on or used the card fraudulently and didn't seem particularly bothered about catching the culprits even though I informed them that the card had only been used 3 to 4 times over the previous 6 months.
It's annoying but I would be optimistic that a full refund will be issued.

My money would be on it being someone at the hotel. That sucks - sorry. I too would imagine you getting a full refund. Don't get nasty, be persistent and calm, in a "ok, well, I'll be calling back tomorrow" fashion - and then call back the next day. I worked in a law office for 12 years - all claims are a matter of persistence. Industries that provide insurance count on a certain percentage of people just giving up on their rightful claims.
