Need a new look?

Post04 Nov 2011, 08:24

Need a new look? Greg Ratcliff has a bunch of NOS Pulsar Straps for sale ($45). I just got a few for my P2, P3, and P4. They're pretty snazzy. If you've got a Pulsar, it's an easy and inexpensive way to try out a new look (I'm not affiliated with Greg - just a satisfied customer).

If you have a P2, you can look like Jack:

very clean look..love it...and offcourse Abe is a very good photographer.
I was wondering how it would look with a red thread in the strap in reflection of the red ruby.

Yes, very nice. Both the watches and the photos.
Just wondering- if you buy a band for a magnet set watch, like a P2 for example, does it come with a setting magnet?

I don't believe Greg is supplying magnets with those - he hasn't in the past.

Ed,

I received magnet holders in each strap and Pulsar magnets in the P3 and P4 straps. He said that some have them and some don't:

Kaspar:
Oooh, yes, I agree, red stitching would look fantastic. I've been wearing the P2 with blue stitching along with a shirt that has matching blue stitching (see photo #4), but red would be super slick. I think it would be pretty easy to find a replacement strap with red stitching and then just move the Pulsar clasp over to the new strap. Here's a photoshop simulation of what that might look like:

That red stitch is to hard..it is taken over the whole watch. Must be much darker, just an accent.

I suspect that red stitching is a little more toned down in the hand.....I can kind of see it working, but like matching suit jacket to pants, if you can't match dead on, you should be at least 2 shades off from matching to make it apparent you did not fail at matching. But since the glass is already very dark, you can only go lighter with the accent, and it appears fairly strong - too strong for some tastes. Apparently.

You can really put [almost] any leather band on your P2/Date II, you just need a square band notch-er and you can careful cut out that center piece. The only caveat:other leather bands have the small hole where the tang/catch comes thru the center of the band at the clasp end.

The best notching tool is rather expensive for casual use, but there are one that are more plier-like, that are only for cutting rectangular notches. Also known as a "Gucci plier".

How about this?:
