ipod nano

Post06 Nov 2011, 21:53

hi,

as i collect al sorts of digital watches, the ipod nano last generations is one that a want for some time...but some questions remain.

I presume i have to push the button to see the clock..like led watches.
But how many clockfaces can i put into the nano?

can i put, let me say..20 watchfaces on to the memory card and let it change the face of the clock automaticly every other day?

or do you think a have to wait just a litlle bit..cause in the short future we will see hundreds of clones, just made for reading the hour with differend digital watchfaces?

Kaspar,

Up until recently, the iPod nano only had two watch faces (analog - black or white), which sort of limited its appeal as a watch. And, yes, you have to push the button to wake it up from sleep mode to see the watch face.

Last month, Apple released a software update giving it 16 new watch faces for a total of 18. Some of 'em are pretty neat. The nano-watch is starting to look a lot more appealing:

My personal favorites:
1) There's a simulated Nixie clock! It's almost worth getting just for that!
2) Kermit - gotta love the frog.

p.s. There's also finally a decent metal bracelet for the nano instead of just the usual ugly rubber or silicone monstrosities:

Can't make your own faces yet, AFAIK. The OS is still closed to third party developers. I have my iPod on the Nixie face, too. Still hoping jthomas will finish his Nixie watch 2 project.

I have both the Lunatik and TikTok watch cases from here:

www.lunatik.com

They just recently made a bracelet for it:

Great watch, might have to also have one  it's unusual for me to like modern watches but this one especially with the Nixie watch face is cool 8-) is the button to activate the display going to prove a little fiddly to press when on the wrist?

Not at all, that little "lip" of the case isn't very big. I'll see if I can get pics of it on my wrist tonight.

That nixie clock look rocks! But I even like the black analogue paired with that black metal band. Tres cool.... 8-)

Warning! Dumb question approaching.... :
I haven't done any reseach so this may sound silly- can use the nano with a blue tooth headset? This way one would not have to remove the nano from your wrist. 8-)

Yes, you can pair the Nano with a Bluetooth headset. I can't remember the exact model number, but there's a Motorola one that people use. The makers of the Lunatik are working on a "streamlined" version of a Bluetooth module to work with their cases.
