Frontier Module

Post30 Nov 2010, 12:49

Hi All.
I need a working Frontier module. Ideally a 2005A.
I need to transplant it into an Omega 1603 Constellation.
If you've got one and are willing to part with it, please PM me.

Rgds,
Andrew.

Hanno at Strikes & Spares can rebuild your 1603 module- only visible difference is a different style of crystal used. He did one for me and it is indistinguishable when cased up from the original.

Crystal frequency is standard 32768Hz. Big problem with 2003, 2005, 2005A & 2007 modules is the thick film oscillator bias resistors which become contaminated with battery leakage stopping the oscillator dead. I spent a rainy Sunday afternoon tracing out the oscillator external circuits in all the Frontier modules I have and was surprised at the difference between the resistors in a good module and a bad module.

Quite easy to squeeze an oscillator chip into one of these if the only fault is a non-running oscillator. I did it to a pair of 2007s as these (at present) are not available as rebuilds from S&S.
